First Korean restaurant to open in 1964, Arirang was also first to introduce smokeless barbecue tables in 1983 at the Harbour City operation. Since then we have expanded to two locations in Hong Kong, one in Times Square (1994, 8,000 sq.ft. premises) and the other in The Gatway, Harbour City (originally in 4,000 sq.ft. premises, having moved from Harbour City location in 1995, and expanded to 6,000 sq.ft. in 1999).
In Korea, most Korean restaurants fall into two categories: HahnJungShilk style, a formal style of dining where one, two or three set courses are offered. Prices are per person and are quite expensive, reflecting the cost of preparing many, often elaborate dish; almost all others fall into 'specialty' category, with short menu of perhaps 10 to 20 items. They include barbecues houses, cold noodle shops, rice dish shops, soup dish house, etc. Very much the fast food operations, they may offer two to five simple side dishes, and are usually very reasonably priced.
Being the first Korean restaurant to open in Hong Kong, we have developed our own style of presenting Korean cuisine that is partly HahnJungShik and bringing under one roof many specialty cuisine of Korea. We offer a range of side dishes to introduce the flavours of Korea. It must have worked since this is the style that has been followed in almost all Korean restaurants that have opened in Hong Kong, and is seldom seen in Korea itself.

Our menu has also evolved and expanded over the years to include not only traditional Korean cuisine, but also some that have become popular in Korea in more recent times. Barbecue remains the most popular fare, but we have been gratified to note that our effortrs to introduce a wider choice of Korean cuisine through pictorial menu have seen steadily wider range of other dishes being ordered by our diners.

From the very beginning, our singular goal has been to serve authentic tastes of Korea.
Our kitchens are always supervised by talented Korean cooks, and regular shipments of Korean vegetables, seafood, and condiments not readily available in Hong Kong, ensures that our goal is met.

We hope you enjoy our offerings. There is truly no better place to learn about Korean cuisine than at Arirang. Our customers from over thirty years ago still with us today can testify to that!
